BYD Atto 3 Performance Launches in Malaysia; Philippines Sales Smash 2025 Record

Kuala Lumpur / Manila, Sept 11 — BYD delivered a one-two punch across Southeast Asia today. In Malaysia, BYD Sime Motors launched the Atto 3 Performance — an all-wheel-drive flagship limited to just 69 units to mark Malaysia's 69th Merdeka — while BYD Cars Philippines revealed sales that already smash its full-year 2025 record.
BYD Atto 3 Performance AWD Launches in Malaysia — Limited to 69 Units
Priced at RM149,800 (about US$34,000), the Atto 3 Performance pairs a 330 kW dual-motor system with 560 Nm of torque, hitting 0–100 km/h in 4.0 seconds flat. The 74.88 kWh Blade LFP battery supports 220 kW DC fast charging (10–80% in 25 minutes) with a 530 km NEDC range. A windshield HUD and a heated/cooled refrigerator debut on the Atto 3 for the first time. Over 13,000 Atto 3s are already on Malaysian roads.
Philippines Sales Surge 99% YoY, Smashing 2025 Record
BYD Cars Philippines sold 28,399 units from January to August 2026 — a 99% year-over-year jump that already eclipses its entire 2025 total of 26,122 units, four months ahead of schedule. Plug-in hybrids led the charge: 22,555 DM-i units (+95%), spearheaded by the Sealion 6 DM-i at 7,759 units. Battery EV sales surged +115% to 5,844 units.
Malaysia Pivots to Local Assembly Partnership
BYD also confirmed it has cancelled its Tanjong Malim CKD plant in Malaysia, pivoting to a local assembly partnership to be announced soon — a strategic shift toward asset-light localisation across ASEAN.
