BYD is accelerating its European localization push, saying it will soon surpass 10,000 employees in the region and aim for more than 40,000 by 2030. Executive Vice President Stella Li (李柯) shared the target in an interview with Bloomberg Television at the Paris Motor Show on October 12, 2026.
Deepening European commitment
Li said BYD's European workforce is set to break through 10,000 shortly and the company plans to grow to over 40,000 employees by 2030, reflecting a comprehensive localization strategy — spanning factories, R&D, supply chain and sales and service networks across the continent.
Growing local footprint
Beyond staffing, BYD is investing in local production of new-energy vehicles, building out a dealer and after-sales network, and tailoring products to European preferences. A larger on-the-ground presence is expected to shorten delivery times, improve service and deepen brand trust among European customers.
